How old does my child have to be to be seen for an exam?
We will see your child for their first checkup as young as 6 months old. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry says that all kids should have their first dental visit by Age 1 at the latest.
Children should see the dentist when their first tooth appears (which is usually around 6 months, although it can vary between 3 months and 10 months), but no later than their first birthday.
What do I need to know to best take care of my children's teeth?
Your child should have his/her teeth brushed well (twice a day), starting when the first teeth appear (generally about 6 months). Limit the amount of sugar that your child consumes. Never put your child to sleep with a bottle that includes anything other than water. Start bringing your child to the dentist as soon as the first teeth appear.
Remember, baby teeth do matter for the development of your child's face and adult teeth!
